SOCIAL NETWORKING IN ELT CLASSES

-As being pre-service or in-service teachers, we should know how to integrate social networking to the our classroom.

-(Facebook, twitter, skype, whatsapp, youtube) All are examples of  social networking Web 2.00 tools.

-For example, twitter can be used for instant boardcast (periscope)-maybe students can share what they learned in the lesson  by using twitter by the end of the lesson.

-I can use  youtube before a writing activity to make a benifit brainstorming.

-I can use youtube to introduce a new topic to the class.

-I can use  youtube for a listening activity to catch a spesific information.

-Skype is a good way to get a keypal, students can work with a pair on skype.

-I think facebook and whatsapp both can be used for out of the classroom activities. Facebook and whatsapp both let users to create group for collaborate activities.

- Students can work on facebook or whatsapp for theır homeworks or for searching something before coming classroom.

-They are so smart, they know many ways to reach a knowledge that they want.

-Today's students grow up with a new technology (computers, video games, digital music players, video cams, cell phones, etc. )

-As a result of how they grew up , their brains are working different from us.

-Educators should realize the diffrences of today's  students.

-Today's students are native speaker of the language of the technology.

DIGITAL IMMIGRANTS :

-They are the rest who were not born into the digital world.

-They are not natives of the digital world.

-They learn to adopt a digital world aspect to the their  enviroment.

-Some examples for digital immigrants accents;

     * To ask did you get my e-mail ?
     * To ask your secretary to print  your e-mail out for you.

-The problem is how do digital immigrants teach language to digital natives ?
